Event Details

Howie Hawkins is a rank-and-file Teamster and a leading candidate for the Green Party’s 2020 presidential nomination. He is often called “the original Green New Dealer” because of his leadership in bringing the Green New Deal to the U.S. in 2010. After years of labor, peace, and environmental activism in the Clamshell Alliance and other projects in the 1970s, Hawkins became one of the cofounders of the U.S. Greens in the 1980s. Meet him on his brief stop through Santa Barbara, learn from his experience and perspective, and join a discussion about what it will really take to create a workable, just, and democratic global economy in the next 10 years.
