In seeking the Green nomination for president in 2020, Howie’s campaign is focused on party building and an ecosocialist platform.

Howie believes that the socialist political principles of class independence and independent political action remain essential in 2020.

He believes that socialists should promote socialist economic democracy based on social ownership and democratic control of the major means of production, not just the New Deal social programs called “socialism” by the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democratic Party.

His campaign intends to build Green Party capacity, including ballot lines in all the states and organizers to assist local party organizing and candidates.

In campaigning for an Ecosocialist Green New Deal, the Hawkins campaign intends to build support for socialist solutions to the pressing problems of climate, peace, and economic security.
