Today, the U.S. Supreme Court begins hearing arguments on whether Title VII’s ban on workplace sex discrimination protects LGBTQ people from discrimination. Of particular focus is the case of a transgender funeral home worker who was fired because she is transgender. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.
LGBTQIA people have no comprehensive, federal protections. H.R. 5, The Equality Act, was introduced in March 2019 and passed the house in May. The Equality Act simply stated adds sexual orientation and gender identity to the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
If the Supreme Court rules against the LGBTQIA community it is another clear sign that this Supreme Court is filled with callous bigots and that no group suffering from invidious discrimination can count on this court to uphold their rights and freedoms.
The foundation of the Howie Hawkins 2020 campaign is its Ecosocialist Green New Deal. The Ecosocialist Green New Deal is fully inclusive of everyone. No exceptions. Freedom and social justice for LGBTQIA individuals will come with the liberation of all people.
While it may be true that a federal government enlightened by the presence of a few Green Party Senators would legislate employment rights and protections for all, this may be culturally insufficient to alter local attitudes and behavior as determed and encouraged by local or regional norms. The role of corporate media in social behavior is strong, Should the media be supervised by the federal or local governments to bring about the needed changes?
No, the media should not be supervised by the federal or local governments at all. That would be tantamount to censorship. Rather, the American media should be liberated from the small number of media conglomerates that now control it. By breaking up those giant conglomerates into smaller independent units, we might begin to have the possibility of a free press.
Oh, this means more than a few leisure chairs moved on the Titanic, or in the US’s case, on the nuclear-run, nuclear-outfitted, nutty Good Ship (Aircraft carrier) Lollipop.
It’s day to day in the USA, in small communities. Look it up: preemption. The rights of corporations to determine the fate — lack of health, safety, sustainability — of large and small communities.
This is not about a few Green Party Candidates. This is about revolution of the people, and if it means hacking computers, rolling strikes, black ops from within the corporate denizens of death, then so be it.
Look it up — why a county like ours, Lincoln County Oregon, can’t keep an aerial spray ban in place because, in this case, the state has preemption over our county that is being razed by timber companies clear-cutting and then spraying various versions of glyphosate and Agent Orange.
This is why we need true worker powered, from the bottom up hard socialism from a truly democratic communism. Really.

Note that all my greenies, all my radicals who call me a friend, none know about Howie Hawkines until I spew a few lines . . . . And as this co-opted society spits out, typically, “Well, he may be all good and all, but we can’t waste our vote on some unknown Green Party-Third Party spoiler.”
Democracy School, have you been to one?
Ecosocialism means no more “dog eat dog” !
Bravo Greens, bravo Howie!
Let’s do it.
