Illinois has the hardest “sprint” in the country, facing one of the largest signature requirements with the one of the shortest petitioning periods.  That means that we have to collect 25,000 valid signatures in 90 days in order to get on the ballot in Illinois.  This task is made even harder by the current COVID-19 public health crisis.  In response to the crisis, the Illinois Green Party has sent a letter to the Governor, the legislature, and the Board of Elections seeking relief.  If the state leadership does not grant relief, then the party will have to go to court to get on the ballot in 2020.

Read the Illinois Green Party’s letter to Governor JB Pritzker asking for relief from their petitioning requirements due to the COVID-19 public health crisis.

The Illinois Green Party has currently suspended all public petitioning plans, but that doesn’t mean that you cant help the Illinois Green Party get on the ballot in 2020!

IF YOU ARE AN ILLINOIS RESIDENT, you can download and sign the legal petition here.  Follow the instructions in the included guide on how to make sure your signature counts!

If you are someone who normally would be willing to petition on behalf of our candidates, but cannot do so due to the current emergency, please fill out the form here.

Please sign our “virtual” or online petition here. Although it is not a legal substitute for a notarized hard copy petition signature, this will also help both our efforts to persuade public officials to act, and, if necessary, a future legal action to obtain relief.

Please reach out to our coordinator at Brendan@Howiehawkins.us with any questions.
