Alabama is without a doubt one of the most restrictive states in terms of getting on the ballot. In order for the party to get on the ballot we are required to collect 51,588 valid signatures. We also face a very early deadline of March 3rd, 2020 to validate and submit all the signatures. That means we will need to collect nearly 100,000 signatures more than eight months ahead of the election to obtain statewide ballot access. This highly obstructive and unconstitutional requirement is the biggest obstacle to the Green Party of Alabama fielding down ticket candidates and building it’s base.

Due to the extremely high requirement for state party access, the H’20 campaign is currently pursuing ballot access in Alabama as an Independent candidate. This would require we collect 5,000 valid signatures by August 13th, 2020, a much lower threshold, later deadline, and higher likelihood of success.

We need volunteers in Alabama committed to assuring Howie a spot on the ballot!
