A retired Teamster, Howie Hawkins is the original Green New Dealer, the first US candidate to campaign for a Green New Deal in 2010.
Howie is also one of the original Greens in the United States, having participated in the first national meeting to organize a US Green Party in St. Paul, Minnesota in August 1984.Â
As the Green Party’s candidate for governor of New York in 2010, 2014, and 2018, each time he received enough votes to qualify the Green Party for a ballot line for the next four years.
Outside of electoral politics, Howie has been a constant organizer in peace, justice, union, and environmental campaigns.

Angela walker
Florence, SC
Angela Walker is a veteran working-class activist with decades of experience working for racial and economic justice in social movements, unions, and as an independent socialist candidate from her youth.Â
She was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to a working-class Black family. She learned early that though money was necessary to live in this society, it was less important than integrity, cooperation, and dignity. This upbringing shaped the activist and organizer she later became.
Angela is the mother of one, and the grandmother of five. She is a fierce advocate for the rights of Black, Brown and Indigenous people, the LGBTQIA community, Labor and the Earth itself.
Where we stand on the issues
Our campaign is here to put forward serious solutions to life and death issues that the working class faces every day. Without a Green/Socialist voice in the process, these important issues will be left out of the debate. We will be damned if we wait on the Republicans and Democrats to save the planet, confront racism, address spiraling inequality, and avert nuclear apocalypse.

Medicare for All
Healthcare is a Human Right! The fundamental problem with the healthcare system in the United States is that it is designed to create profits for a few rather than guarantee healthcare to everyone. We are the only major campaign calling for Medicare for All.
COVID-19 RELIEF
The corporate parties are presiding over a failed state with millions unemployed, millions without accessible healthcare, and millions at risk of eviction and homelessness. Meanwhile Wall Street gets trillions. We need COVID relief that puts working people first!
Green New Deal
Howie is the Original Green New Dealer, first running on the platform in 2010! Our Green New Deal delivers 100% clean energy, in all sectors by 2030, while creating 30 million new jobs and reorienting society towards an ecologically sustianable future.

Community Control of the Police
Community control of the police means elected police commissions with real investigative and policy-making powers in their communities to set citywide police department policies and determine disciplinary sanctions for police misconduct.Â
Sustainable Agriculture and food systems
Capitalism has been a terrible steward of the environment. The goal of a sustainable agricultural system would be to make each region of the country as self-reliant in food as possible, with farm belts around the major city or cities, and encouragement of urban gardens.
Economic Bill of Rights
Inequality kills. Our Economic Bill of Rights will guarantee the rights to a living-wage job, an income above poverty, a decent home, comprehensive health care, a good public education from child care and pre-K through college, and a secure retirement.
End Endless Wars
We will never have a secure peace as long as capitalism’s competitive economic structure generates international conflicts and wars. In order to ensure peace and combat climate change, we must reduce our military budget and reverse our imperialist policies.
Legalize marijuana/end the war on drugs
The War on Drugs has been a colossal failure that has disproportionately impacted communities of color. It is time to end the war on drugs and repair the damage done to communities by the drug war.
